The Creek South Beach is a bright spot on the South Beach budget scene. Previously known as Banana Bungalow (the former hostel changed hands in 2002, this two story hotel built in the 1950s has been transformed into a 21st century budget hotel but still retains some of its low key hostel feel. When the owners revamped, they added lots of original artwork and cleaned up the large outdoor pool and sundeck. There's a DJ booth on site (the sound system is industrial strength, a small movie theater, a pool table, and a video arcade. Standard rooms are simple no frills affairs while Signature rooms have been individually and colorfully decorated by artists. A daily Continental breakfast is complimentary and there is a communal kitchen available for use. The open air café hosts weekend barbecues and looks out over the pool deck. There is also a popular 40 foot long bar inside. Additional amenities include a lobby Internet kiosk and laundry facilities. Parking is free, unlike many Miami hotels.
