Known by just a letter, the chic W Atlanta at Perimeter Center is located in upscale northeast Atlanta, only 20 minutes from fashionable Buckhead, considered by many locals as the metro's trendiest area. Thirteen miles from downtown, the boutique hotel is surrounded by many business parks and corporate high rises.

First timers will say the lobby resembles a designer furniture showroom, with its oversized suede armchairs, velvet ottomans, bold striped rugs, clear glass vases, leather cubes and walnut nesting tables. Every Thursday night, the hotel hosts "Retro Thursday," which features local DJs in the main lobby, plus specialty martinis and appetizers from the hotel's Savu restaurant.

Speaking of Savu, the restaurant specializes in Asian fusion cuisine, with such dishes as Rare Roast Peanut Crusted Beef; Tuna and Avocado Tartare; Szechwan Lobster Pancakes; Crispy Beijing Duck; and Mahi Mahi with Asian Barbeque Glaze. The bar serves 20 different "whimsical martinis."

The 10,000 square feet of meeting space features such accents as contemporary sconce lighting, Italian leather chairs and complimentary bowls of retro candies. The hotel's 24 hour, self service business center includes two workstations with high speed Internet access, office equipment and supplies. Guests also can work out at SWEAT, the hotel's 24 hour fitness center, or relax at WET, the outdoor swimming pool. We're not making up those names.

Guestrooms include step out balconies and decors that blend natural colors with contemporary design. Furnishings include marble topped tables, chaise lounges, sycamore desks, and premium pillow top mattresses, down pillows and imported cotton linens. Guests can scope out W's CD and DVD library for in room entertainment. The hotel also offers welcome amenities for pets, including turndown service.

W's clientele mirrors the neighborhood stylish young professionals and executives. But W Atlanta at Perimeter Center will definitely give business and leisure travelers some pretty good memories.
