Asakusa
Shrine
The shrine
was built in 1649. It is consecrated
to three deified humans - two
brothers and their lord. According
to legend, the brothers miraculously
fished a golden image of Kannon
out of the Sumidagawa river
in 628 AD, and their lord enshrined
it in the Asakusa Kannon Temple.
It is the most famous shrine
in Tokyo, also hosts the Sanja
Festival in May. |
