Willard Library
The oldest public library in Indiana, Willard Library was founded in 1885 by local philanthropist Willard Carpenter. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is an outstanding example of High Victorian Gothic architecture, designed by nationally renowned architects James and Merritt Reid. Library lore includes multiple reports of sightings of the “Lady in Gray” who haunts the library building. |
