Palace of Holyroodhouse
Palace of Holyroodhouse is perhaps best known as the home of Mary, Queen of Scots, and as the setting for many of the dramatic episodes in her turbulent reign. Highlights of the palace are the oldest surviving section, King James Tower, where Mary Queen of Scots lived on the second floor, with Lord Darnley's rooms below.

Scott Monument
Scott Monument is Edinburgh's most famous landmark, completed in the mid-19th century. In the center of the over 60m (200 ft.) spire is a large seated statue of Sir Walter Scott and his dog, Maida, with Scott's heroes carved as small figures in the monument. Visitors can climb 287 steps to the top for a spectacular view.
