Scottsdale Travels & Tours

Borgata of Scottsdale
Replicated from a 14th-century Italian hill village, the cobbled walks, bubbling fountains and stone turrets of this open-air mall combine to achieve a gracious shopping experience. Visit on Fridays from October through April, and immerse yourself in the wonderful scents and flavor of the Farmer's Market. Elegant dining is available at Mancuso's or Cafe Terra Cotta. Shopping finds include fine jewelry, art collectibles and elite fashions. One visit to this exclusive center will persuade you why it is one of the most popular in Arizona.

Goldfield Ghost Town
Head out to the only authentic ghost town in the valley, at the foot of the Superstition Mountains. Learn about the mystery surrounding the Lost Dutchman Mine and tour an historic 1890s goldmine. Enjoy the scenic view of the Superstition Mountains from a superior angle. Other features include gunfights, narrow-guage railroad, museums of mining equipment (admission USD2), as well as local shopping and food. Local jeep tours are available through Apache Tours. Mine admission, gold panning, reptile exhibit or railroad admissions range USD3-5 per activity.

el Pedregal Festival MarketplaceEmail this page Print

Fashioned as an Old Morocco marketplace, this upscale enclave is set amongst the famed boulders that loom 250 feet above. An eclectic combination of apparel shops, restaurants, galleries and the Heard Museum North make a full day excursion a delightful possibility here. Enjoy free outdoor concerts each Thursday from May through July. This unique mall is an ideal place to stroll, soak in the natural beauty of the Sonoran desert and find that special someone something special.

Casino Arizona
This new casino offers exciting options for entertainment, dining and gambling. Find 100,000 square feet of fun in this facility, owned and operated by Pima-Maricopa Indians. Multiple dining and drinking spots include a sport and piano bar as well as five on-site restaurants. Native American jewelry and artwork are showcased alongside other gift items in the boutiques and specialty stores. On-site ATMs as well as a global check cashing facility are on the premises.

Scottsdale Center for the Arts
This organization transformed a small western town into a well-respected cultural community. Throughout the year, the arts are explored through music, dance, acting and other artistic venues. Programs promoting the importance of the arts to children of all ages are conducted regularly. Tours, lectures, workshops and classes are held on a variety of thought provoking subjects. As events frequently change, visiting often will provide the best experience and efforts put forth by this center. Contact the Center for dates, times and pricing for individual events.

Rawhide 1880s Western Town
Step back in time to the Wild Wild West in Arizona's largest western theme park. Be careful when you walk through the streets, you never know when a cattle rustler might get involved in a shoot-out. Rides and attractions are throughout the town. If shopping is your idea of fun, you won't be disappointed with more than 15 shops. You can even buy a rattler head for that special someone. Seasonal cookouts, a famous steak house and a saloon are open too; be careful, the sheriff does not like rowdies. Admission is free except for special events. Please call for current information.

Scottsdale Culinary Festival

April brings this celebration of fine wines and culinary delicacies. As many as 50,000 people flock to enjoy choices from 12 different venues on the menu. Past events have included the Le Tour Culinaire, Great Arizona Picnic and black-tie extravaganzas. World Class chefs share their expertise in this annual event; proceeds benefit art education programs for students in the Valley. This event combines a worthy cause and a glorious festival—truly a winning combination. For ticket information call +1 480 994 2787. Credit card acceptance may vary by event.

Scottsdale Historical Museum
Originally built as Scottsdale's first "Little Red School House," this facility was used most recently by the Chamber of Commerce during its restoration and conservation. Collections include an exhibit featuring Winfield Scott, the founding father of Scottsdale. Photographs and memorabilia representing the history and culture of "The West's Most Western Town" are featured. There is an on-site gift shop with interesting specialty books for children and adults.
