 Richmond Travel Guide

Richmond
Richmond is located south of the north arm of the Fraser River. Richmond is a unique and dynamic multi-ethnic community, with many cultural attractions that highlight its diversity including the Steveston Historical Society Museum. Richmond is also home to the Vancouver International Airport. Visit the travel guides for the Fraser Valley and Vancouver Island for information about visitor destinations near Richmond.

On the seaside of the Pacific Ocean, framed by snow capped coastal mountains lies beautiful and vibrant Vancouver. Vancouver is cosmopolitan in structure, events and attitude, yet is greatly influenced by a remarkable natural setting. The combination of rich cultural experiences and vast opportunities for exploring nature makes Vancouver an intriguing destination.

Grocery Hall of Fame Museums
Step back in time to the days when shirts cost 98 cents and soda pops were kept in oak iceboxes. A homage to the general store, this quaint museum is filled with old advertizing posters, vintage tin cans and unopened packages from the turn of the 20th century.

Britannia Heritage Shipyard

The Britannia Heritage Shipyard has now been designated a National Historic Site . The building is the oldest remaining on the Fraser River and was built as a salmon processing plant in 1889. Later it became a shipyard to service the burgeoning coastal fishing fleet. Now restored it pays tribute to the shipbuilding and fishing industry of the area. Visitors can observe the restoration of old boats and ships using traditional methods. The visitors centre focuses on the multi-cultural origins of the many who worked and lived in the area including the Japanese-Canadian owners of the shipyard.

Richmond Nature Park

The Richmond Nature Park is located in the centre of town and consists of 5km of trails in 40.5 hectares of forest and bog land. Whatever the season the park has something to see.
